Brows

Brow lamination is also known as a brow lift. A fuller, more groomed brow look is achieved by using a perming solution to straighten and tame unruly brow hairs. The final step of the process helps to lock the hairs in place and give you a more sculpted look for 6-8 weeks.

The aftercare is simple–Do not wet your brows for 24-48 hours after receiving the lamination service. That’s it!

The product used for brow lamination at Beauty & the Brow Studio is enriched with biotin, cocoa butter, vitamin B3, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, marshamallow extract, and more to actually promote the growth of your brow hairs over the course of 6-8 weeks.

If you are not a good candidate for microblading due to contraindications such as diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. then brow lamination would be an excellent alternative. If you already have a good amount of brow hair but would like to reshape and sculpt your brows, this is also perfect for you!

Microblading is a semipermanent technique for enhancing the appearance of the eyebrows, in which pigment is scratched into the skin in fine, short strokes resembling hair, using a hand tool with a blade formed of tiny needles.

Category: Brows

Your appointment will last around 2 hours. We will start by discussing your vision for your brows, mapping out and sketching the brow shape on your skin, and then we will begin the actual microblading process once you are 100% comfortable and ready.

Category: Brows

It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal, and 30 days for the pigment to be fully set.

At least 3 weeks in advance. After you get your brows microbladed, you cannot have high amounts of sun exposure or get your brows wet for around 10 days. Your brows will also go through a dry phase where they may flake, so you would want to complete that phase before your vacation. When you return from your vacation would be the perfect time to come back for your complimentary touch up.

If you want your brows to be as perfect as possible, then yes! Now that you have had some time to examine your new brows while they heal, this is the perfect time to make any adjustments you may want such as thickness, color, or adding any strokes.

You must wait at least 3 weeks to get your touch up session to ensure that the pigment is fully settled into the skin.

The pain level is considered to be very mild, with some clients saying it does not hurt at all. Everyone is different, but most people say it feels similar to getting threaded. While you fill out your paperwork, I will apply a topical anesthetic containing lidocaine to the area. After layer 1 of the microblading is complete, I will apply an anesthetic gel that will be better able to sink in now that first layer of micro cuts is complete.

After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal.  The feeling may be similar to a light sunburn.  Clients can take Tylenol but not aspirin or ibuprofen.

The average length of time for microblading to last is 1 year. It is recommended to come in for touch-ups annually to maintain your brows. There are several factors that can affect the longevity of your results such as:

  • Oily skin (the oilier the skin, the faster the pigment will fade)
  • Sun exposure
  • Exfoliation
  • Extreme perspiration
  • Heavy makeup use

Lashes

Classic lash extensions are perfect for someone with a good amount of natural lashes. Since the Classic technique is to apply 1 extension for every 1 lash, you will be adding length but not as much fullness. Classic is also the most natural looking method. Hybrid lashes are for the client who wants length AND fullness. Handmade fans are created and applied to 50% of your lashes, and single extensions are applied to the other 50%. This is the perfect blend of volume and wispy length for those who may feel that their lashes have gaps or need more filling in.

At Beauty and the Brow we do Classic Lash extensions and Hybrid Lash Extensions. Classic is a 1:1 lash application method where one synthetic lash is applied to every natural lash you have. With this method, we can create a variety of effects from cat eye to doll eye. Hybrid Lashes are 50% Classic and 50% Volume which means that handmade lash fans are used to add fullness and definition.

Individual strands of synthetic fibers made to replicate a natural eyelash. Eyelash extensions lengthen and thicken your own natural eyelashes.

Lash extensions typically last through the full growth cycle of your natural lashes, which can be 6-8 weeks. However, every person’s hair growth is different and it is normal for lashes to fall out, especially depending on daily activities. For this reason, fills are suggested every 2-3 weeks to keep the lashes looking full.

No–If applied properly and correctly by a trained technician, eyelash extensions do not ruin the health of your natural lashes.

For the first 24-48 hours you will need to avoid water and steam to make sure that the glue bonds to your natural lashes. After that, you can get right back to your routine. However, keeping away from extensive contact with steam such as in saunas or certain facials is recommended since it can begin to loosen the bond.

Skincare

The most common schedule for dermaplaning is once a month. This ensures that you have smooth, bright skin and are on your way to clearing hyperpigmentation and scarring as well!

Category: Skincare

We have all seen those plastic razors that claim they can be used for dermaplaning. While you can use razors to remove hair and shave your face, you will NOT get the same results as you would from a dermaplaning treatment. Real dermaplaning tools are made from surgical grade steel and are extremely sharp–which is why not just anyone can be licensed to use them! Shaving will mildly exfoliate your skin, but will not be able to remove as much dead skin and vellus hair as the surgical level blade will.

Category: Skincare

Dermaplaning will NOT make your hair grow back thicker or darker. Vellus hair is completely different than terminal hair–they grow differently and feel different as well. This is actually why laser hair removal works on terminal hair but is ineffective on vellus hair. I repeat–the removal of vellus hair will not cause any hair to grow back thicker or darker!

Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation treatment that uses a sterile surgical blade to remove the top layer of dead skin and vellus hair (AKA Peach Fuzz). The tool is held at a 45 degree angle and gently moved across the surface of the skin for maximum exfoliation.

The needles are moving at a rate of about 10,000 rounds per second, so they are moving so quickly that what you feel is more of a vibration gliding across your skin.  For anyone who is concerned, we do offer a numbing cream for an extra charge.
